pocket daily (06) + things

Hello there, it's been hectic the past week and I haven't had the time to share some random pictures I took via instagram during the weekend before so I thought this would be appropriate. Homemade pasta is yummy and my beat up nano is really just... beat up. Alright.

On an extremely random note, I have used my Happy Socks a couple of times over the last two weeks! They are too comfy and cute so it is now compulsory to get a pair (at least) for yourself. I think they look smashing with any kind of shoes and this is why I can't hate it (and made it a thing):

These are not the new thing but now that I finally caught onto it (after several conflicting issues regarding the financial aspect of buying a pair for myself even though I was madly in love with it but got a pair as a gift) I really think it can be purely secondary. They even have pretty leggings for you ladies and socks for different styles and oh-so-precious designs to suit you!

Prices start from about SGD14 onwards at stores like Actually and Rockstar by Soon Lee and more so you know, it's never too late (sometimes I'm too much of a laggard) to own a pair!

I've yet to catch up on sleep I missed over the weekend that just past due to an insane amount of work to finish up... about time.

But keep your eyes peeled! More exciting things are coming your way because pocketto finally has a new affiliate (;

Goodnight!

Things: Scandinavian gifts

Things I love: WEEKDAY shirt / Sukie Button Factory / Postcard! / Happy Socks / Shakespearian quote tote

So a good friend of mine, Jocelyn, went to Scandinavia recently and brought these pretty goodies back for me (!!!) Extremely touched by her little surprise! Well I doubt anyone can hate any form of a positive surprise. I loved every bit of it!

Yay for a mini DIY button factory! I've yet to get down to making the badges but when I do, I'll definitely share some pictures up. The designs are too cute (some designs are printed on the packaging itself)! If you would like your own button factory, check it out here via Mordena Museet!

And finally, my first pair of Happy Socks! Been eyeing on them for the longest time ever but never really got around it either. I love the cute details on this pair and not forgetting, the sweetest postcard from a lovely friend too (:

I was told there are lots of wonderful places to visit across Scandinavia - from tiny cafes to museums and stunning landmarks. I haven't been traveling much recently so I've been missing out on some of these pretty treats and sights in real life (loads of my friends are sharing their travel photos on Facebook too). But when I'm motivated enough I'll definitely try to get down to making my trips a reality.

Anyway, if you've got a wonderful thing to share, do drop it into pocketto via Facebook - click here to access pocketto or just from the link on the right of this page! I'll love to hear from you.

And here's quiet tune (Norah Jones - Don't Know Why) to end this wonderful week... Have a lovely Monday!

Kings of Convenience - I Don't Know What I Can't Save You From (Royksopp remix) #midweektune

Here's some Kings Of Convenience lovin' for everyone! These guys are really hard to hate. If you're in need of a chill out, I should think you could do with some of this. This one's a remix by Royskopp though so it's going to be a little different from what you normally hear but stay with it and surprise yourself (because I surprised myself too).

Anyway, let me know if you've got a tune to keep you on track for the week via pocketto's Facebook (got a link via the right as well). I'm definitely all ears! (;

It's Thursday, and a rather gloomy one for me. So is the weather but I shall not stop myself from the weekend that is on its way.

Work beckons... Good day!

pocket daily (05)

The Dempsey Brasserie + Pretty bicycle that belongs to Yew Jin's mom

This has thus far been a pretty neat week, following some quality time spent with wonderful people. I've recently been taking more effort to be more active on Instagram (I know it's a little late) but well it's worth a try. I actually think of it as a positive invention because many people appreciate details more as they photograph them down into a virtual mini vault. It's like taking a second look at something and trying to capture it in the most captivating way possible and letting others have a peek into your tiny library of images.

In any case, for anyone who is in need of a new food heaven, please visit The Dempsey Brasserie. It serves extremely good French Onion soup (fyi it's served with bread and tonnes of melted cheese) and Lava cake (I think they might have called it the chocolate fondant too) !!! And if you love mussels, it is definitely worth a trip (it's their signature dish).

I know it might sound all a little too good to be true but there's nothing I can put down about it. Awesome service from the waiters (we had rounds of puns and laughter) and it's too lovely of a place to dislike. Maybe except for the heat that can start attacking you midway through the meal but seriously I would rate this a 9/10.

On an extremely random note, I have decided to number my entries to keep track of my progress and how much I've written overtime. So there it is, numbers in my title headers...

Lastly... pokopocketto is now on Facebook! You can now receive updates, random posts and share anything you like! Click here to join pocketto on Facebook ^^

Good night for there will be Scandinavian presents tomorrow <3

pocket daily

I feel this insane surge of happiness rushing through my body. Right at this very moment.

It's 3:37am. It's late (to also be cutting random strands of hair at this hour). But I have to write down this whirlwind of emotions down. Something's tugging at me to get this done. I shall.

Sidetrack, I just (just, being at 12.30am prior to my sudden urge to write all of this down) caught Submarine. Yes it's a year late, I know but who cares it's one of the best films I watched. I love movies like that. Even though it's a tad bit typical but I know there's a fair number of people who will agree with me about it. Shall not swoon about it (ok fine I included a still from the film up there) but I think I will when I have time to.

School's been a bore. I haven't been paying attention. At the least I caught the lecturer talking about averages and things that do not matter or correspond to my life. I feel stupid. But at the same time, sorry for these people who took plane rides that cost thousands of dollars to educate people who are disinterested. I'm not speaking for the majority but well, for myself, at least or even a minority who might share the same point of view as I do.

Right now, I just feel extremely motivated (AND HAPPY). But I can't seem to put a finger on what it is... Honestly, I haven't figured out what it is but the idea of getting something in place is a rather good start to this mundane period in my life.

Then again, maybe it's a temporary form of escape as I tell myself "something good can work".

Read a book by Paul Arden titled "Whatever you think, think the opposite". I think it's quite a good statement to live by. According to it, we need to understand that living within the rules and the norms isn't going to help us progress or make things better. It's what restricts us. We need to find our catalyst and make sparks fly with the right twitch.

Arden also mentioned that ambitions and aspirations coupled with determination will change the outcomes if we work towards it. And true enough, Obama became president, just as James Saatchi became the first to put an "ad" on the other side of the Berlin wall and eventually set up the now well-sought after ad agency, Saatchi and Saatchi.

I actually envision this space to become something more... More than just a space. I can't say for sure that things are going to happen but in time to come, it might. It just might.

Goodnight.

Everybody Come Outside! - Pomegranates #midweektune

For anyone who loves a little fuzzy tune and surprise.

I'm in love with (the) Pomgranates. Plus all their little fuzzy (wuzzy) guitar strumming and singing. It's a real heart-warmer/breaker at some points.

(I think) Everyone needs a little kick in the butt to press on for the weekend. I'm hoping #midweektune sticks around as a Wednesday/Thursday or in other words, mid-week staple just as (I hope a miracle would happen as) I cook more stuff up for future content.

Here's a bunch of love.

Pierrot Le Fou

Pierrot Le Fou was a film I caught a long long time ago. I didn't think much of it at first and took a rather long time to understand what it truly meant because I am not French but that's besides the point. I loved the style it was shot and the characters and the randomness of it, because it was barely predictable as most movies are these days...

So the story shows a warped love story between Ferdinand and his baby sitter, Marianne, who elopes and went on a run from gangsters, only to realize that he was betrayed by the one closest to him. I'll stop here so I won't end up spoiling the movie but trust me you will not regret this a single bit.

I'm pretty sure this is the movie for anyone that loves French cinema, Amelie or just Anna Karina (too beautiful to miss!) Besides, you can't go wrong with Jean Luc Godard's films. They usually are screaming for thumbs up(s). Trailer's just below so bombs away!

Anyway, it's been a wonderful weekend! Spent my Friday soaking up the love at Jason Mraz and then for Flight Facilities with my wonderful friends <3

And my Sunday was spent lazing around in bed and heading out for a nice afternoon cycle and meal with Calvin. We made a (cycle) trip down to Greenwich mall and had Quiznos for lunch/tea, plus cupcake and ice cream from Awfully Chocolate. Mmmmmmmmm.

Other than that we got caught in the rain and I was shivering like mad. My freshly dyed hair was leaking buckets of colored water from the rain. I think my hair kindda filtered the water to be a purple mess. Definitely not what I intended but it just happen so...

Ok my apologies, didn't mean to scare anyone out there but epic 7-11 plastic bag for cover... Calvin tied it up for me so thus. I know I know, wtf is this picture doing here? Am I out of my mind it's so out of place in this space. But I apparently am, so I give up.

On a completely unrelated note, it is the last week of my (productive, apparently) holidays. School better not be a bore.

Bye x
